Talking about our emotions and issues isn’t always easy,  You may even have talked to a counsellor before but still haven't found the support you felt you needed. Finding a therapist or coach that is right for you, who will understand your unique needs and use an approach that you can relate to, is vital to a successful outcome. I believe the relationship between the client and the counsellor or coach is the foundation upon which an effective counselling process is built.

If you find anything is preventing you from enjoying daily life or you feel stuck and uncertain where to go from here, and you ask "what is wrong with me" you are most likely emotionally overwhelmed. Counselling can help you understand yourself better and the reason behind the way you think. Which will ultimately help you develop a clearer understanding of your situation? The more you learn about yourself and the way you think,  the easier it gradually becomes to navigate your way through any difficulties you are facing.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is also known as ‘talking therapies’ and help you to discuss your struggles, fears and complications you are experiencing in a safe, confidential environment. The latest scientific research evidence shows we can reinforce and improve our brain in ways once believed impossible.  Today, the art of talking therapies such as counselling, are used to help people come to terms with many problems they are facing, with the ultimate aim of overcoming them.

Not everyone has the same view on the term counselling, but in general, it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth in order to understand the issues better and determine goals and way forward.

It is not a counsellor’s role to sit you down and tell you what to do. Instead, they will encourage you to talk about what's bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. The counsellor may then look to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues or help you to find ways of coping. Counselling methods and approaches are flexible and tailored to suit your unique needs and your expectations. It is imperative that you understand:

  • counselling is a team effort,

  • it is a process that creates change over time,

  • counsellor and client relationships are the foundation of this process is built on,

  • authenticity and commitment from both parties are equally crucial for the best outcome,

  • your commitment to carry out guidelines and consistency in participation is crucial to achieving the outcome you desire.

You no longer have to live in the past, You have the capacity to change the way you think and feel. You have the capacity to do what you set your mind to. YOU CAN transform your life by the renewing of your mind. You can learn how to:

  • Recognise negative thoughts before they take over

  • Renew your mind

  • Restore your health

  • Strengthen your relationships

  • Find your purpose.

  • Transform your life

Everything we do in life requires a skill and a correct method, including facing challenges in life.

It can be easier when we know how.

-Not sure whom to talk to or tired of being told you should do something about it?

- Exhausted with trying to make the relationship work?

- Anxious about going back to work or entering the workforce?

- Struggling with grief and loss?

-Going through a transition and finding it overhelming?

You believe everything that has happen to is result of something you must have done?

-Work-related stress effecting your personal life?

- Overwhelmed by stress, suffering from health

issues?

- Do you feel alone in what you

are going through and need to

be understood?

- Reliving a past trauma and not sure whom you can talk to?

- Feelings of guilt and shame stopping you from going forwaed?

-Struggling with the challenges of parenting?

- Feeling anxious on a daily basis, feeling debilitated?

-Not sure how much more you can take?

If you are struggling with an ongoing problem despite all your efforts to resolve it, It is possible that what you are experiencing is the result of a deep-rooted issue, you may not have thought about. As we know, with a physical illness if the cause is unattended symptoms will persist. The same principle applies to stress and emotional issues.

Talk to a trained professional with experience. Be heard in a nonjudgmental and safe space.

Get an unbiased view and learn strategies to determine the root cause of the issues you are facing, as well as learning how to deal with the outcomes which affect your daily life.

Take the first step. The change begins with you.
